Macedonia resident William Wall was a key figure in figure skating for many years. As a National Senior
and Gold Test judge for more than 40 years, he traveled weekly to a test or competition. He was also a
Second Figure Test and Gold Test Skater and competed in many local events with longtime
partner Joy Cunningham.

In the 1960s, he co-founded the Cleveland International Competition, which later established a trophy
in the name of Mr. Wall and his skating partner.

Mr. Wall died April 9 at Hudson Elms Nursing Home. He was 89.

He was born Dec. 4, 1918 in Cleveland, the son of Joseph and Emily Wall and worked full-time as a
machinist for General Electric and BP. Mr. Wall was a U.S. Army veteran who, with his wife, Celia,
and daughter, Barbara, also enjoyed social ice dancing. He was an avid animal lover.

He is survived by his children, Barbara Wall-Perotti and Dr. Patrick Wall (Marcia); three grandchildren; and a brother, Larry (Mary). He was preceded in death by his wife, a brother, Jack (Lucille) and sister, LaVerne Weinstein (Benjamin).

Funeral services were held April 12 at Ferfolia Funeral Home, Sagamore Hills. Burial was at
Crown Hill Cemetery, Twinsburg.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the U.S. Figure Skating Association
or the American Cancer Society.
