BROOKS STEWART
Passed Away
We are all saddened by this news.
BROOKS STEWART, a pillar of the skating community for many years,
died January 11, 2004. Born January 21, 1914, he was just shy of his
90th birthday. Brooks was an Honorary Member of the
Executive Committee (1977), an Honorary Referee (1991),
and an Honorary National Judge (1991).
He served the Association as First Vice President (1975-76) and as
Secretary (1969-1972). He was a member of the Executive
Committee (1962-1966) and chaired the following committees:
International Committee (1977-1980)
Judges Committee (1980-1983)
Membership Committee (1966-1969)
Eastern Committee (1973-1976)
Publications Committee (1967-1977)
The other major interest in Brooks' life was horticulture. He was a
wonderful gardener, loved nature and the outdoors. He worked as a
volunteer at Morris Arboretum and amassed a total of more
than 1,000 hours of dedicated service.
He is survived by his wife Jane, daughter Debbie and three grandchildren.
