 A woman whose cat had wandered into an apartment on her floor
 early yesterday discovered a man slumped over in a recliner with his
 throat slashed, law enforcement authorities said. 

 Police are treating the death of Louis Heinold, a 52-year-old
 Salvation Army volunteer, as a homicide and said they do not
 consider it random because there was no evidence of forced entry.
